Primary 4/5 - Miss Fraser

A MASSIVE thank you to staff, family and pupils of Linnvale Primary for making our Macmillan Coffee Morning the most successful yet! Primary 4/5 were incredible and have raised over £1283 so far! Well done! Big thank you to Miss Guthrie for taking some photos for us as we were rushed off our feet from 9.10am!

A big thank you to Mrs Park, Mrs MacNab and our lovely parent helpers who did baking with Primary 4-7 in preparation for Macmillan! Primary 4/5 had the fun job of making top hats!

This block, our big maths focus is time. We had a very active maths session revising o'clock, half past, quarter past and quarter to times.

Kieran, Alyssa and Cody chose animation for their Future Friday focus. They created their own whiteboard and every day objects animations using the app 'I can animate'. Kieran's animation using a football. Cody's animation using a whiteboard. Alyssa's animation using a whiteboard.

Getting our class photo this morning turned in to such a laugh! What a bonkers class we have!

After selecting animation for Future Friday, Kieran went home and made his own flip book! They are so simple and easy to make!

This afternoon we started our new literacy topic, focusing on the book Charlotte's Web by EB White. After discussing our first impressions of the book, Primary 4/5 were set the challenge of finding out about the author. We used Chromebooks to find out when he was born, when he died, where he was born, who was in his family and the books he wrote. We also found out any other facts. Cody found it hilarious that EB White was a hypochondriac! Nieve and Lucy were shocked to find he married his editor! David couldn't believe that his friends called him Andy despite his name being Elwyn!

David worked really hard to follow step by step instructions to create this Lego model. Well done!

Yesterday we worked in pairs or small groups to look more closely at the VCOP used by authors of texts.

Imre, Alyssa, David, Mirren, Kayden, Declan and Rejyar went round the classes this afternoon with Mrs Paul. They were selling raffle tickets at 20p to win a telescope, giant unicorn or a giant connect 4 game. We have already raised £21!

The triangle maths group have been busy this week ordering numbers up to 10,000. Cameron and Lucy had a competition to see how quickly they could order number coconuts on the Promethean board!

This morning Primary 4/5 were busy making Christmas cards with Mr Farquhar!

We have been working on place value the past few weeks. Today the squares were rounding to the nearest 10, the triangles were breaking down numbers and circles were finding numbers 10 more/less. Once we had all finished, we secured our knowledge using maths games on topmarks!
